West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek signs new contract until 2028

West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek has signed a new contract with the Championship club that will keep him at the London Stadium until the summer of 2028.

The Czech Republic international, 31, has made 285 appearances for the Hammers since joining from Slavia Prague in January 2020, scoring 47 goals and establishing himself as one of the most consistent and popular figures in the squad. He was a key part of the side that lifted the Uefa Europa Conference League in 2023 and has remained fiercely loyal even after the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

“West Ham United means a lot to me. I’ve been here half my football life, seven years, and it will be more,” Soucek told the club’s website. “I can say with my heart it’s my home and it’s where I feel so proud of what we’ve done and I believe that we will do even more.

“After signing a new contract, I have a new ambition for myself and for the club. The first is that we want to go straight back to the Premier League, then I want to play and be successful in the Premier League next season.”

Soucek made his return from a five-month lay-off on Friday, playing the first 45 minutes against Queens Park Rangers as he builds fitness after suffering ankle ligament damage during the World Cup. His commitment and professionalism have long been praised inside the dressing room.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo described him as a “huge figure” and someone the squad can always rely on. “He is someone that we can always rely on, someone who always competes to his maximum every single day and his professionalism is the perfect example to every young player,” Nuno said.

The new deal underlines Soucek’s status as one of the remaining links to West Ham’s recent European success and signals the club’s determination to keep experienced leaders at the heart of their promotion push. For the midfielder, it offers the chance to write the next chapter of a career that has already made him a firm favourite with the Claret and Blue Army.
