Serie A | Napoli 3-0 Frosinone: De Bruyne Sparks Dominant Win

Kevin De Bruyne produced a brace either side of Noa Lang’s strike as Napoli returned from the international break with a dominant 3-0 victory over Frosinone at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side, still finding their feet after a stuttering start to the Serie A campaign, switched to a more attacking 3-4-2-1 shape and were rewarded with a clinical first-half display. Rasmus Hojlund struck the post early on from Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s cross before the Danish striker was brought down in the box by Giorgio Cittadini just before the half-hour mark.

Hojlund’s initial penalty was saved by Lorenzo Palmisani, but the referee ordered a retake for encroachment and De Bruyne stepped up to coolly convert for his first goal of the evening.
Three minutes later the lead was doubled. Di Lorenzo’s effort was parried by Palmisani and Lang reacted quickest to poke home the rebound from close range. David Neres twice went close either side of the interval, while Scott McTominay received a warm reception on his return from heart surgery as a second-half substitute.

Frosinone, who arrived with a strong away record, offered little threat despite late efforts from Giorgi Kvernadze. Deep into stoppage time Giovane raced down the left and pulled the ball back for De Bruyne to side-foot home his second and seal a comprehensive win that lifts Napoli level on 10 points with their opponents.

The result marks a welcome three points for Allegri’s injury-hit squad and a statement performance after the long international pause.
