Chelsea close in on Strasbourg's Yassine

Chelsea are close to signing Morocco’s Gessime Yassine from Strasbourg, with talks reported to be at an advanced stage, according to CaughtOffside.

Journalist Ikram Konur says the move is nearing completion and that the 20-year-old is close to joining the Premier League club. It would fit with Chelsea’s policy of recruiting young talent.

Yassine has made a strong start to the season in Ligue 1, contributing to three goals in his first six games.

Chelsea’s relationship with Strasbourg has given them a way into the French club’s emerging players. Valentin Barco and Emmanuel Emegha both moved to Stamford Bridge this summer after impressing in Alsace.

The report suggests Yassine could be a long-term investment, whether he establishes himself in the first team or increases in value over time. It also says such deals suit Chelsea’s approach of signing high-potential youngsters while staying within financial fair play rules.
