Barcola: Premier League More Demanding Than Ligue 1

Liverpool’s new signing Bradley Barcola says the Premier League is more physically demanding than Ligue 1, although he describes the French top flight as very intense.

The France winger joined from Paris St-Germain this summer in a deal worth €125m (£108m approx) and told journalist Fabrizio Romano that the main difference is the amount of running required.

“Ligue 1 is a very physically intense championship,” said Barcola. “But here, I would say the workload is even greater, particularly due to the greater volume of running. Matches go from one goal to the other.”

The 23-year-old added: “The intensity is extremely high. But that’s exactly why I came here. For me this is a new challenge that I want to take on.”

Barcola has made six appearances for Liverpool but is yet to score or provide an assist.
