Getafe Make First Offer to Sign Jadon Sancho on Free Transfer

Getafe have made a first offer to sign former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho on a free transfer, according to reports in Spain.
The 26-year-old became a free agent when his United contract expired in the summer, meaning any club can sign him without paying a fee. Spanish newspaper Sport, citing Sky Sports Germany, reports that Getafe’s proposal was submitted on Thursday and that Sancho is now weighing it up with those close to him before deciding on his next move.
The main obstacle is money. Getafe must fit Sancho’s wages within LaLiga’s salary limit, with head coach José Bordalás keen to add quality to his squad without overstretching the club’s finances.
Madrid-based Getafe see the deal as a chance for Sancho to rebuild his career in one of Europe’s top leagues. The England international has previously played for Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Manchester United, the last three of them in recent years, but has struggled to recapture the form that made him one of Europe’s most sought-after talents.
Sancho would be Getafe’s second notable free-agent signing, following the arrival of former Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal, who joined on Tuesday on a contract until June 2027. Sancho’s market value is estimated at around €10m (£8.7m), although Getafe would pay no transfer fee.
