Pascal Gross named Premier League Player of the Month

Pascal Gross has been named the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for September after a sparkling return to form that helped fire Brighton & Hove Albion into the top three.
The 35-year-old midfielder claimed the award for the first time in his career, becoming the first Brighton player ever to win the monthly honour.
Five goal involvements seal the prize
Gross scored twice and provided three assists across just three Premier League appearances in September. His standout contributions included a goal and two assists in Brighton’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Coventry City, followed by the opening goal and another assist in a dominant 3-0 home win over champions Arsenal.
Those five goal involvements put him among the league’s joint leaders for the month and proved decisive in the voting, which combines public ballots on the EA Sports website with a panel of football experts.
Gross pipped a strong shortlist that included teammate Charalampos Kostoulas, Liverpool’s Alexander Isak and Jeremy Jacquet, Leeds United’s Jayden Bogle, Hull City’s Mohamed Belloumi, Brentford’s Kevin Schade and Manchester City’s Antoine Semenyo.
Historic first for the Seagulls
The German becomes only the fourth player from his country to win the award, following Jürgen Klinsmann, Leroy Sané and İlkay Gündoğan. At 35, he ranks among the oldest recipients in Premier League history, behind the likes of Stuart Pearce, Teddy Sheringham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mark Schwarzer, Gary McAllister, Gianfranco Zola and Paul Scholes.
Gross is in his second spell at the Amex Stadium after rejoining the club from Borussia Dortmund earlier this year. His performances have been central to Brighton’s excellent start to the 2026-27 season, which has left Fabian Hürzeler’s side third in the table after five games.
Brighton complete clean sweep
The Player of the Month award formed part of a rare clean sweep for Brighton. Hürzeler was named Barclays Manager of the Month, while captain Lewis Dunk’s long-range strike at Coventry claimed the Guinness Goal of the Month prize. It is only the fifth time a club has secured all three major monthly awards in the same period.
Gross also found the net in Brighton’s dramatic 3-2 Carabao Cup comeback win at Manchester United, underlining his influence across competitions.
The veteran midfielder’s consistency and creativity continue to defy his age, underlining why he remains one of the Premier League’s most effective and underrated performers.
