Denmark 2-4 Portugal | Nations League Match Report

Portugal produced a clinical display in Copenhagen to extend their perfect start in the Uefa Nations League, overcoming a resilient Denmark side 4-2 in a thrilling Group A4 encounter at Parken Stadium.
João Cancelo opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing coolly after combining with Gonçalo Ramos, who had earlier struck the post. Mikkel Damsgaard restored parity with a superb curled effort into the far corner from Joakim Maehle’s cut-back just after the midway point of the first half, but Ramos responded almost immediately, converting Bruno Fernandes’ precise through-ball with a confident low finish beyond Mads Hermansen.
Denmark emerged strongly after the interval and levelled for a second time in the 53rd minute. Damsgaard’s intelligent pass released Rasmus Højlund, who chipped elegantly over Diogo Costa and celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark “Siu” gesture, drawing warm applause from the home crowd. The visitors, however, regained control and went ahead once more when Vitinha rose to head home another Fernandes delivery in the 67th minute.
Substitute João Félix sealed the points four minutes from time, sweeping home Diogo Dalot’s cross after a defence-splitting trivela pass from Rúben Neves, ensuring Portugal finished with nine points from three matches and a commanding lead at the top of the group. Denmark, despite their spirited response and two well-taken equalisers, remain on three points.
The result carried extra significance given the pre-match backdrop of Ronaldo’s departure from the Portugal camp. Jorge Jesus’s side showed no signs of disruption, dominating large periods and converting their chances with efficiency while Denmark’s defensive vulnerabilities were repeatedly exposed. Fernandes orchestrated much of the creative play, providing two assists, while the Portuguese attack looked sharp and purposeful throughout. For Brian Riemer’s Denmark, the performance offered encouragement in attack but left them needing results in their remaining fixtures to stay competitive in the section.
